Grief &
Depression
Grief is the emotional suffering caused by severe loss. Grief is most often
associated with death because of it's finality on earth. In reality anything
that removes what you have been accustomed to has the potential to cause grief.
It is true that death is the
number once cause of severe grief. There are many other common things that can
be a potential cause of grief. Some sources of grief could be loss of health,
loss of job, loss of self-esteem, consequences of bad choices, catastrophes,
loss of our dream, relationships, addictions, memories, and rejection to list a
small sampling.
Only those who experience the loss can understand the pain of the loss. While
most believe that time will heal us and that we will get better automatically.
The truth depends on the severity of the loss.
Depression is one of the stages of grief. At Doorway we believe that many
people who are suffering from depression are really grappling with the after
effects of grief.
At Doorway of Hope we help those who are depressed as a result of loss based
grief to honestly work their way through the stages of grief and recover
their hope for life.
