The family in our culture has experienced great trauma. If the family were the patient in an E.R. Trauma unit it would be the victim of a severe mugging and robbery. The patient would be in critical condition and in need of at least a couple of surgeries and a blood transfusion. The prognosis would be touch and go and all concerned parties would have been notified of the dire conditions.
Today in our culture 1/2 of all marriages, the bedrock of our society, end in divorce. This reality shows no signs of slowing down which means that 1/2 of those who married today won't be at this time next year.
Everyone seems to think the same way when they say, "It will never happen to me or my marriage." This destructive force of divorce knows no boundaries. It is an equal opportunity destroyer.
The hole left in our society as a result of this reality is massive and seems to touch just about everything imaginable.
At Doorway we believe that there are some common denominators that create this vulnerability. We truly believe that when we strengthen these vulnerabilities a great deal of the grief is preventable and the fallout of the destruction is redeemable.
It's never too early or too late to do the right thing!
